Winglift

There are so many enemies of love -
Suspicion, hurt, embarrassment, and fear
Begin the dusty list.

Yet somehow men and women rise above
Hostilities to hold each other dear,
All obstacles dismissed.

It may seem soft and dumb, like some sweet dove,
But underneath its eagle claws appear -
Difficult to resist.
