Pyramid Scheme

Not sure how seriously to take this:

An online magazine has offered translations to Arabic news sources that purportedly indicate that Egypt's Salafi party has come forth with plants to demolish Egypt's Great Pyramids in an effort to bring down what it calls "symbols of paganism."

Of course, it does bring to mind the fate of those big Buddhist statues in Afghanistan:

They were dynamited and destroyed in March 2001 by the Taliban, on orders from leader Mullah Mohammed Omar, after the Taliban government declared that they were "idols".

Is the persistence of the pyramids at odds
with that rule about "strange gods"?

I hope it's just a scare
that doesn't have a prayer.
