Oak Forest 5k

A pleasant run in the woods in the rain,
with an Irish theme and medals to gain.

I have often bicycled this route, but running it was new, and I was quited surprised, when we passed the wetland area, to see clear evidence of beaver construction activity. I had never noticed it when zooming by on my bike.

They've built a dam and flooded land - where it was merely muddy.
But did these rodents file their environmental study?

Thanks! It helps to find small, new south side races.

WSJ had an article a year or two ago about runners who sought out fulls and halfs that looked like good opportunities to medal in age group!

I read that, or some article like it, and absorbed the principles. It's childish but fun. Ruth & Bob used to run this 5k in Oak Park where all runners got a finishers medal. They were quite annoyed when the organizers cut the medals and started giving an actual rose to the women runners - and nothing to the men.
