Just the idea of laying steel track,
Evenly spaced, there and back,
Boggles the brain.
But then - to build a train?
That makes the laying
Of track... seem like mere playing.
Harnessing explosive forces
To outpull a thousand horses...
How exactly is that done?
I wonder whether I'm the only one
Who's awestruck, as we glide along the rails,
At just how rarely this thunder beast fails.

You know.. I find myself amazed at so many of these things too.
I've occassionally caught myself admiring a garbage pick-up truck, and how fascinatingly it pick-ups the bins with its robotic arms, dumps it, and moves along... it's really cool!
Maybe it's becuz back where I came from, there weren't none of the robotic trash pick-ups, which mostly meant that the stinking piles of rotting garbage lay on the streets for days.
The closest thing I've seen to that was the New York City garbage strike, decades ago. This is a blessed place in many ways, and we who live here tend to take it for granted.
