I heard a commentator on WFMT say that while Barenboim was head of the CSO, NY city critics wouldn't even go to the CSO concerts at Carnegie hall.
However, now that he's working the recital rounds, it's as if they've discovered a totally new talent! (He WAS awsome in the recital.)
The commentator clucked over the attitude those people from New York had towards all things Chicago. He said "They aren't interested in anything with the letter c h i c a g o." Marsha, who can't think of her blogger password at the moment!
