Negotiating Nothing

Apparently the U.S. has been engaged in high-level peace talks with a Taliban leader. And we gave him lots of money.

But he was an impostor.
American officials confirmed Monday that they had given up hope that the Afghan was Mr. Mansour, or even a member of the Taliban leadership.
Kerplunk.
We got punked.

Could also be a U.S. plant...using Valerie Plame tactics to stir mistrust/murder in the Taliban leadership.

When the ploy failed, this was the fallback position--"they tricked us!"
