I was at the Milwaukee Art Museum this morning, and I saw this painting, which I don't recall seeing before, but which really struck me: The Two Majesties, by Jean-Léon Gérôme.
The lion contemplates the sun.
His claws rest on the rock.
If you disturb his peace for fun,
prepare to feel a shock.
